TRB is sponsoring the Transportation Systems for Livable Communities Conference on October 18-19, 2010, in Washington, D.C. The livability concept embraces cognate notions such as sustainability, quality of life, the character of place, the health of communities, and more. Using National Household Travel Survey Data for Transportation Decision Making: A Workshop
TRB is sponsoring the National Household Travel Survey Data Workshop on October, 25-26, 2010, in Washington, D.C. The workshop is designed to focus on the use of NHTS data to inform transportation decision making on key issues such as energy use, congestion, highway finance, and safety. The workshop will feature presentations and discussions on methods, examples, and techniques for using NHTS and other travel survey data to support transportation programs and decisions. TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) is soliciting examples of impacts on practice--instances where airports have adopted and implemented concepts that were presented in ACRP research publications. The solicitation is part of ACRP's continuing efforts to explore the value and usefulness of its products, which are designed to help contribute to the growth and development of the airport industry. NCHRP FY 2011 Projects: Oversight Panel Nominee Solicitation
TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) is soliciting nominees to serve on oversight panels for new projects being established under the NCHRP's FY 2011 program. Nominees should have expertise directly relevant to the proposed project topic. To help identify nominees who are members of historically underrepresented groups, TRB encourages the nomination of women and members of minority groups. Panels for the new projects are scheduled to meet beginning in late July through September. Panel members are prohibited from submitting or participating in preparation of proposals on projects under their jurisdiction, and they serve without compensation but are paid travel and

FY 2011 National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Projects
Preliminary descriptions of projects expected to be undertaken as part of TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) fiscal year 2011 activities are available for review. These projects do not represent the entire NCHRP FY 2011 program, only those for which requests for proposals are expected to be issued during August and September of this year. Deadlines for proposals vary, but are generally in October and November. Announcements of the requests for proposals on these projects will be included in future issues of the TRB E-Newsletter.
